What age did you begin playing a musical instrument? 10
Why did you choose the instrument you play? For a few equal reasons: 1) Because it was the smallest and lightest of all the instruments 2) because it was an instrument in the key of C 3) the tone quality of the flute I thought was the most beautiful of all the instruments.
Who is your favorite composer, and favorite work? Why?
When I want to relax and just listen to great music I put on either Bach or Mozart. Some of my favorite works though are Mahler’s symphonies.
How many years have you been performing with Symphony in C? 7 years
What’s your favorite part about playing in Symphony in C?
I enjoy playing with such a high level of musicians and also playing under Rossen. He is so musical and so inspiring. His descriptions and ideas about the character of the music really affect me.
Where do you aspire to be in ten years? And what do you plan to do?
I aspire to be where I am now, living and working in New York City. Musically I aspire to be a respected musician, playing a high level of music with very talented musicians whether it’s chamber music, orchestral, or otherwise.
What are you currently listening to on your I-pod?
My i-pod was stolen; however, on my old stereo system I listen to everything--- jazz, world music especially Brazilian, folk, top 40, and yes, I actually listen to classical music a lot.
What other interests outside of music do you share, if any?
I love to run. I try to run a few times a week. I also do yoga. I love cooking vegetarian meals either for myself or my husband, and I love to garden. Sometimes my love of gardening takes the place of flute practice!
