What age did you begin playing a musical instrument?
8 years old

Why did you choose the instrument you play?
I remember being attracted to the wide variety of sounds and instruments in the percussion family.

Who is your favorite composer, and favorite work? Why?
It really depends on what pieces I’ve been studying and performing. Right now, I would say Ravel’s Daphnis and Chloe, Suite No. 2. I love the lyrical opening of the suite and the percussion writing in the Danse Generale.

How many years have you been performing with Symphony in C?
Three as Principal Percussionist and several as a substitute prior to that.

What’s your favorite part about playing in Symphony in C?
I really enjoy the programming and making music at such a high level with my talented colleagues.

Where do you aspire to be in ten years? And what do you plan to do?
One of the most exciting parts about being a musician is that you never know what opportunities lie ahead. I’m not sure where I’ll be in ten years, but it will definitely involve making music.

What are you currently listening to on your I-pod?
Bruce Springsteen, Tower of Power and various classical recordings.

What other interests outside of music do you share, if any?
I’m a big sports fan, particularly of the Phillies and Eagles. I enjoy visiting major league baseball parks in various cities.
